What We're All About
The New Jersey Council for History Education is a non-profit corporation that promotes the importance of history in our schools and colleges. The NJCHE was founded in 1993 and is supported by the contributions of its members. We are affiliated with the National Council for History Education which is located in Westlake, Ohio.
We sponsor an annual conference at Princeton University in December and a thematic program in March. We also publish OURSTORY, a journal of historical articles, research, and lessons. Membership is open to teachers, college students, and interested individuals who support the study and advancement of history education.
Our professional development workshops have the approval of the New Jersey Department of Education and the hours can be applied to the 100 mandated hours for the re-certification of your teaching license.
